Robinson College 校友 Forum: 1.5 to stay alive ... . Is Net Zero possible?

We are delighted to invite all our alumni to join us at the 2022 校友 Forum. This year's topic for our annual 校友 Forum is on Net Zero: is it possible to meet this ambitious goal and keep global temperature increases below 1.5摄氏度? Governments around the world have set out challenging goals on carbon reduction - with the UK amongst the most ambitious. A group of Robinson alumni working in the fields of sustainability processes and legislature, 出版, carbon offsetting and sustainability customer support will discuss the latest developments in their respective fields.

西娅谢尔 (Social and Political Sciences, 1998), Director of Sustainability and Climate Officer at Springer Nature Group will chair the panel and will be joined by Oliver Millican (Land Economy, 1999), Managing Director at Bute Energy and Alastair Marke (Sustainability Leadership, 2017), the Director General of the Blockchain & Climate Institue (BCI). More speakers will be announced soon.

The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session and we would encourage audience to send in  their questions to in advance of the event.

椅子: 西娅谢尔

西娅谢尔 (Social and Political Sciences, 1998), Director of Sustainability, Climate Action Officer at Springer Nature Group, a German British academic 出版 company: sustainability processes in business.  Since 2017 she has led on sustainability strategy and corporate reporting, driving forward a programme that measures, monitors and works to improve the publishers’ environmental and social impacts. She was appointed as the company’s Climate Action Officer, a role that is a first in the 出版 industry, in the summer of 2021.



Oliver Millican (Land Economy, 1999) is Managing Director at Bute Energy, a developer of onshore wind and solar Energy Parks. Oliver is responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the business. He has a background in private equity, with a particular focus on real asset investment.




Alastair Marke (Sustainability Leadership, 2017) is the Director-General of the Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI), which is a think tank supporting governments in the deployment of blockchain and emerging digital technologies to achieve climate change policy goals. 在英国, Alastair serves as an ad hoc Expert Advisor to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Blockchain. He is the editor and co-author of the world’s first book on blockchain and climate change issues – “Transforming Climate 金融 & Green Investment with Blockchains” which was published in 2018. 


Elena Vydrine (Sustainability Leadership, 2016)

Elena is Head of ESG and Climate Index for Asset and Wealth Managers at MSCI, a global provider of indexes, portfolio analysis tools and ESG products.  With over 15 years of industry experience in indexed funds, etf与环境、社会和治理, Elena has a special interest in embedding sustainability principles and metrics into the core of the investment process. She holds an MSc in Investment Management from Cass Business School and an MSt in Sustainability Leadership from Cambridge University.
